Big Brothers Big Sisters is an organization that provides support to children facing adversity. They focus on engaging the community, mentors, family, and schools in order to help the youth reach their full potential. More specifically, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas serve 1,400 youth in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, and York counties.

Brand Expression

I worked on this project while interning at Phase 3, an integrated marketing and communications agency. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolina were looking for a new brand expression and a small update to their logo. The main goals were to achieve a cohesive look, with a strong design execution and hierarchy. The update to the logo was minor but the brand expression had to present this organization in a fun, dependable, relationship-oriented way.

The evolution of the graphic device


I developed a concept that took into consideration transparencies as a way to communicate the interaction between mentors and mentees. The design evolved from the initial noodle-like shapes interacting with circles to a more magnified version of said graphic devices. The energetic and playful look was applied to business cards, PowerPoint presentations, letterhead, thank you cards, inserts, and envelopes. A logo guideline was put together for the client. Templates of said deliverables for non-sophisticated users, or users who could use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, were also created.
